IRCAD training center
Established in 1994 by Professor Jacques Marescaux, IRCAD is a specialized institution focused on advancing research and training in laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic surgery.
Based in Strasbourg, IRCAD has gained global recognition for its exceptional training programs, attracting around 8,800 surgeons annually for on‑site training. IRCAD Africa
Since April 2025, PENTAX Medical partners with IRCAD Africa. IRCAD Africa is a leading center for training and research in minimally invasive surgery, located in Kigali, Rwanda. Established in October 2023, it is the first such center on the African continent and part of the global IRCAD network. Its mission is to train African surgeons in advanced surgical techniques and to advance research in minimally invasive surgery, including through the Disrumpere Project, which utilizes artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic and surgical capabilities. Since its inception, IRCAD Africa has trained over 400 surgeons from 27 African countries, significantly enhancing surgical standards across the continent.

ESD and Third Space Endoscopy Workshops
PENTAX Medical supports ESE - Erasmus School of Endoscopy, providing the capital equipment for live porcine hands‑on ESD and third space endoscopy workshops, which are held at the following renowned centers on a yearly basis:
Experimental‑Research Center ELPEN (Athens, Greece)
School of Health Sciences – University of Minho (Braga, Portugal)
Erasmus School of Endoscopy (Rotterdam, the Netherlands)
The workshops include 12 hours of immersive hands‑on training, complemented by one‑on‑one instructions and teaching from experts in the field, such as Dr. Arjun Koch from the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, along with several other esteemed European physicians.
