New, Innovative Endoscopic Technologies from PENTAX Medical to be Highlighted at UEGW 2016

October 14, 2016

Quality in Focus: New technologies pushing boundaries in endoscopy to be presented on Booth 7, Hall X5 at United European Gastroenterology Week

Hamburg, Germany, 14th October 2016 – PENTAX Medical will be exhibiting its very latest endoscopy technologies at one of the world’s largest gastrointestinal (GI) congresses, UEG Week 2016 (Booth 7, Hall X5). The event will take place in Vienna from 17th to 19th of October and is organized by United European Gastroenterology (UEG), a professional non-profit organisation combining all leading European societies concerned with digestive health.

At UEGW, PENTAX Medical will highlight “Quality in Focus: New Technologies Pushing Boundaries” and showcase its new, innovative OPTIVISTA and SCOPEPILOT products. Visitors to Booth 7, Hall X5 can find out more about PENTAX Medical’s efforts to support the clinical pathway and increase efficiency and effectiveness through enhanced diagnosis and treatment. In addition, the unique EUS product range from PENTAX Medical and HITACHI will be available to view.

PENTAX Medical will also hold a number of training sessions and meetings for its customers at the event, as well as clinical lectures and live demonstrations. These include i-scan certification sessions, discussions related to its Blackbox Innovations™ program and training on the exclusive online customer portal, MyPENTAX Medical, which will be launched at UEGW.

New to the market, the OPTIVISTA EPK-i7010 High-Definition video processor is a world first for endoscopy, featuring both digital (i-scan Surface and Tone Enhancements) and optical enhancements (i-scan OE) on the same platform. This unique combination provides extra information for more accurate endoscopic in vivo diagnosis through improved vessel and mucosal pattern characterization. With the new optical filter producing bandwidth-limiting light, clinicians are able to switch seamlessly in real time amongst HD+ white light and three i-scan modes in order to readily view multiple aspects of tissue structure.

To fully support quality standards in colonoscopy and training and ensure smooth and efficient colonoscope navigation for improved patient comfort in everyday practice, PENTAX Medical recently launched the new SCOPEPILOT 3D Colon Navigation System. SCOPEPILOT delivers a true 3D, real-time representation of an endoscopes’ position with pinpoint accuracy when inside a patient’s bowel tract for highly accurate insertion tracking and effective colonic loop management.

PENTAX Medical’s successful, annual Expert Dinner is to be held as a charity event this year at the prestigious Hofburg Vienna. All proceeds will be donated to the Felix Burda Foundation, which works to raise public awareness for the prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer. PENTAX Medical will double the donated amount.

Prof. Dr. Ralf Kiesslich (Wiesbaden, Germany) and Dr. Silvia Sanduleanu (Maastricht, Netherlands) will chair the following presentations during the expert evening:

  • Seeing Through New Eyes. Advanced Imaging Technologies in the Upper GI Tract - Dr. Michael Häfner (Vienna, Austria)
  • Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges in the Colo-Rectum: Management of ‘New’ Lesions Using Image Enhancement – Prof. Dr. Helmut Neumann (Mainz, Germany)
  • Improving Quality in Endoscopy through Innovation – Prof. Matt Rutter (Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom)

Mariuccia Zambelli, General Manager Marketing and Business Development, EMEA of PENTAX Medical, commented: “This year we have introduced a number of exciting new products to enhance our support of GI consultants. Already these consultants are noting a marked effect in their diagnostic possibilities through their use of our new technologies, such as OPTIVISTA and SCOPEPILOT. PENTAX Medical is committed to optimally support the entire clinical pathway from diagnosis through to therapy. We look forward to discussing this in greater depth and sharing our expertise in GI endoscopy at UEGW 2016.”
