PENTAX's European Subsidiary Makes Capital Investment in Spanish

PENTAX Corporation initiated its second three-year middle-term management plan in April 2004, under the theme of "growth and expansion." This capital investment was made by PENTAX Europe to advance a transition from conservative strategic investment to aggressive strategic investment, which is one of the primary objectives of this new management plan. It allows PENTAX Europe to firmly establish a direct domestic marketing network of endoscopes in Spain, which is one of the major European markets, and also to reinforce its overall endoscope sales operations within the EU market.
Sistemas Integrales de Medicina joined the PENTAX group in April 2001 as an exclusive distributor of PENTAX-brand medical endoscopes. After recording annual sales of 3.3 million in 2003 and 4.4 million in 2004, its sales are expected to reach 7.3 million in 2005. Both PENTAX Corporation and PENTAX Europe hope to further penetrate the Spanish medical products market through Sistemas Integrales de Medicina, and increase the current endoscope segment share significantly and as quickly as possible.
