PENTAX Medical Receives Innovative Technology Designation from Vizient for the Slim Linear Ultrasound Endoscope

October 31, 2017

Designation recognizes products that bring improvements to the health care industry

(Montvale, NJ) – PENTAX Medical Company, a healthcare industry leader in endoscopic imaging, announced its Slim Linear Ultrasound Endoscope has received a 2017 Innovative Technology designation from Vizient, Inc, the largest member-driven health care performance improvement company in the country. The designation was based on direct feedback from hospital experts who interacted with the Slim Linear at the Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange in Denver on Sept. 14, 2017.

The Slim Linear features the latest in transducer design and ultrasound imaging technology bundled into the company’s slimmest linear GI echoendoscope available today. A slimmer insertion tube, a smaller distal end, and a shorter bending section help endoscopists access and visualize hard to reach anatomy for a wider range of patients.

“PENTAX Medical is delighted to have been recognized by Vizient with an Innovation Technology Designation for an exceptional product that is unique in our industry,” said Clark Barousse, President, PENTAX Medical, Americas. “We are steadfast in our dedication to deliver products that support our customers’ goals of improving the quality of care while enhancing patient and provider satisfaction. The Slim Linear is the most recent demonstration of this commitment.”

“The Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange offers medical technology suppliers the opportunity to demonstrate their products and gain direct feedback from the approximately 1,500 clinical experts who attend the event. Following exploration of the technological capabilities of the Slim Linear Ultrasound Endoscope at the Exchange, attendees recommended it receive an Innovative Technology designation. Congratulations to PENTAX Medical on receiving this status,” said Debbie Archer, director of procurement and Vizient Innovative Technology Program lead.

Vizient represents a diverse membership base that includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers and represents more than $100 billion in annual purchasing volume. Through its Innovative Technology Program, Vizient works with member-led councils and task forces to review potentially innovative products. If it is determined that a product is innovative, Vizient may award a contract outside of the competitive bid cycle.
