The EPK-i7000 HD+ video processor provides extraordinary images and excellent illumination. Its unique Twin Mode feature facilitates the assessment of detected lesions by direct evaluation of different i-scan modes. Integrated HD+ video recording enables the collection of clear and sharp images to support scientific data.

The new i10 endoscopes are raising the standards of endoscopy, delivering exceptional and superior visualisation of the mucosa. This can potentially improve detection and characterisation, whilst also help reduce procedure and diagnosis times. Through clever design, thumb pressure and overall hand fatigue is reduced and therapeutic options have been significantly improved with optimum size working channels.

Clinicians interested in finding out more about the benefits of using PENTAX Medical colonoscopes are invited to a poster presentation on the results of a research study - “Impact of right colon retroflexion on adenoma detection rate”, by Dr Monika Widlak, Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley. The study of 37 patients proved that using the PENTAX RetroView Colonoscope improved the overall adenoma detection rate by nine per cent. The poster presentation takes place on Wednesday 26th June, from 12.30pm to 2pm, in Hall 4.

Delegates can view and handle the latest cutting-edge technology in the “Innovation” area of the stand, including EMR/ESD accessories such as the Splashneedle, Mucosectom, Ksnare and Hemostat instruments. Furthermore, the innovative WavSTAT Optical Biopsy System will be showcased. This revolutionary system uses optical technology to give consultants an immediate result as to whether tissue is cancerous or not, without physically removing tissue.

PENTAX Medical experts will be available on the stand to discuss how their full portfolio of products can provide best value solutions to hospitals and clinicians, with systems tailored to meet demanding clinical needs. From the premium range EPK-i5000 and 90 series of endoscopes up to the new state-of-the-art range EPK-i7000 and i10 series, all PENTAX endoscopes offer ease of use through advanced ergonomics, in return providing superb images to support detection, demarcation and characterisation. This helps to reduce the need for random biopsies, whilst ultimately driving down pathology costs, resulting in improved patient comfort and diagnosis of cancer.

Dr Matthew Banks, from University College London Hospital, said: “Advanced endoscopic imaging has revolutionised our current understanding on how to diagnose and treat patients. Recent advances in the field of endoscopic imaging now allow for a more detailed examination of the colon, thereby improving our adenoma detection rates and enabling an in vivo diagnosis of the polyp’s histology. This leads to the possibility of immediate “histological” results, which may allow taking clinical decisions without any significant delay. The new technology may also improve the detection of Barrett's neoplasia and early gastric cancer. The new HD+ technology in combination with virtual chromoendoscopy therefore considerably enhances our diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic options.”
