Peter Smith is the Editor of Spend Matters UK and a CIPS past President. He will be giving his views on key themes discussed in the recent health procurement strategy and illustrating some of the issues using real-life examples from PENTAX Medical - a major supplier to the healthcare sector.

In a recent customer survey carried out (January – September 2013), PENTAX Medical was ranked “better than competitors in value for money” by its customers. PENTAX Medical work in conjunction with the NHS Supply Chain to provide tailored packages based on clinical and hospital needs, driving down their overall cost for patient care.

This success at driving down cost was also highlighted in a peer reviewed study published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology entitled “High resolution colonoscopy in bowel cancer screening program improves polyp detection.” The paper highlighted the effectiveness of PENTAX’s HD+ endoscopes for increased polyp detection which can help to drive down the overall cost of patient care.

As well as sponsoring the talk, PENTAX Medical experts will be available on Stand 4 in the exhibition, where they will be showcasing their premium range of HD+ endoscopes - including the 90k and 90i range, plus the state-of-the-art i10 HD+ endoscopes. All PENTAX endoscopes offer ease of use through advanced ergonomics, and in return providing superb images to support detection, demarcation and characterisation. The EPK-i5000 video processor, with its high illumination, HD+ resolution and advanced ‘i-scan’ image processing technology, will also be on show to demonstrate the best value range from PENTAX Medical.

David Moore, Managing Director of PENTAX Medical, said: “PENTAX Medical is dedicated to providing the highest possible quality products to enable clinicians to detect cancers earlier, improve patient outcomes, which ultimately drives down the overall cost of patient care. By offering our additional personalised support services, including training and maintenance, alongside a wide range of products, we can help all hospitals procure the right equipment for their needs, providing best value in the market.”
