PENTAX HD+ Endoscopes Improve Adenoma Detection In Bowel Cancer Screening

A peer reviewed study recently published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology entitled ‘High resolution colonoscopy in bowel cancer screening program improves polyp detection’[1] highlights the effectiveness of PENTAX’s HD+ endoscopes for polyp detection with megapixel definition. As colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers worldwide, early detection of cancer, as well as detection and removal of polyps, using colonoscopy is vital to decrease disease mortality.

With a higher image resolution of 1.3 million pixels, compared to standard colonoscopes, which range between 400,000 to 700,000 pixels, the PENTAX HD+ colonoscopes provide an enhanced resolution and visualisation of polyps. As detailed in the paper, this leads to a significantly higher detection rate of polyps, specifically adenomas, if the patients examined with the PENTAX HD+ megapixel high resolution colonoscopes, compared to alternative high resolution endoscopes.
